LTC (Litecoin) Mining Guide
1. About Litecoin
1.1 What Is Litecoin?
LTC is the native cryptocurrency of the Litecoin network.
Litecoin is a Proof-of-Work blockchain designed for peer-to-peer payments and value transfers. It uses the Scrypt mining algorithm and is now mined mainly with dedicated Scrypt ASIC miners.
Unlike PRL mining, which uses GPUs, Litecoin mining is dominated by Scrypt ASIC miners. CPUs, regular computers, and consumer GPUs are generally not competitive at the current network difficulty.
1.2 What Is Scrypt?
Scrypt is the Proof-of-Work algorithm used by Litecoin.
Miners perform Scrypt computations and submit valid shares to KuPool. KuPool combines the hashrate contributed by all connected miners, mines Litecoin blocks, and distributes rewards under the applicable payout scheme.
1.3 LTC Merged Mining
Litecoin supports merged mining with DOGE and other compatible Scrypt coins.
After connecting a Scrypt ASIC miner to the KuPool LTC pool, you can earn LTC and supported merged mining rewards at the same time.
Merged mining does not require additional hardware or reduce your LTC hashrate. Your miner continues running the same Scrypt workload, while KuPool handles merged mining and reward accounting.
2. Before You Start
2.1 Miner Requirements
Litecoin is primarily mined with Scrypt ASIC miners.
Supported miner types may include:
- Air-cooled Scrypt ASIC miners
- Hydro-cooled Scrypt ASIC miners
- Immersion-cooled Scrypt ASIC miners
- Other dedicated ASIC miners that support Scrypt
Before connecting a miner, make sure that:
- The miner supports the Scrypt algorithm.
- It supports standard Stratum connections.
- Its firmware allows custom pool URLs.
- Its rated voltage and power meet your site requirements.
- The power supply and cables meet the required specifications.
- All hashboards and chips are working properly.
- Its efficiency remains economically viable at your electricity rate.
The following devices are not suitable for LTC mining:
- SHA-256 Bitcoin miners
- Equihash Zcash miners
- CPUs
- Consumer GPUs
- ASIC miners that do not support Scrypt
Changing the pool URL does not allow an ASIC miner to mine a different algorithm.
2.2 Power Requirements
Scrypt ASIC miners consume significant power. Before powering on your miner, make sure that:
- The input voltage meets the miner’s specifications.
- Power outlets and cables support the required current.
- The PDU can handle the actual load.
- The circuit breaker has sufficient capacity.
- The electrical system is properly grounded.
- Cables and connectors are not damaged, loose, or overheating.
- All power connectors are fully inserted.
- The circuit is not overloaded.
Do not connect a high-power miner to a household power strip that is not rated for the required load.
The power usage shown in the miner dashboard may differ from actual wall consumption. Use a power meter or smart PDU when calculating electricity costs.
2.3 Network Requirements
Use a stable wired network connection.
Before mining, make sure that:
- The router has internet access.
- The Ethernet cable is properly connected.
- DHCP is enabled and working.
- The miner can obtain a local IP address.
- Pool ports are not blocked by a firewall.
- DNS resolution is working.
- The network does not have frequent packet loss.
- Latency to the KuPool server is stable.
For large mining farms, consider using:
- Primary and backup internet connections
- Static IP addresses or DHCP reservations
- A dedicated miner network
- Switch-port monitoring
- Network outage alerts
2.4 Cooling Requirements
Scrypt ASIC miners generate substantial heat and noise.
Make sure that:
- Air intakes are not blocked.
- Exhaust outlets remain unobstructed.
- Hot exhaust air does not flow back into the air intake.
- The ambient temperature stays within the miner’s operating range.
- All fans are working properly.
- There is enough space between miners.
- The facility has sufficient ventilation.
- Dust is removed regularly.
For hydro-cooled or immersion-cooled miners, also check:
- Coolant condition
- Circulation pumps
- Pipeline pressure
- Connections and potential leaks
- Heat exchangers
- Inlet and outlet temperatures
- Cooling system alarms
3. Create a KuPool Account and Subaccount
Before configuring your miner, complete the following:
- Register a KuPool account.
- Log in to your account.
- Create an LTC mining subaccount.

4. Prepare Your Payout Addresses
Before receiving mining rewards, add a valid LTC payout address to KuPool.
Once the address is verified and active, KuPool will send eligible mining rewards to that address according to the current payout schedule and threshold.
4.1 Obtain an LTC Address
You may use a full-node wallet, non-custodial wallet, or supported exchange deposit address.
Option 1: Litecoin Full-Node Wallet
A full-node wallet gives you direct control over your wallet data and private keys.
Keep in mind that:
- The wallet must download and synchronize Litecoin blockchain data.
- Initial synchronization may take a long time.
- It requires sufficient disk space and bandwidth.
- The wallet device and backups must be properly secured.
Use another wallet that supports the Litecoin mainnet if you do not want to maintain a full node.
Option 2: Exchange Deposit Address
Some digital asset exchanges support Litecoin deposits.
Open the exchange deposit page, select LTC, and choose the Litecoin network.
Before using the address, confirm that:
- The selected asset is LTC.
- The selected network is Litecoin.
- LTC deposits are currently available.
- No Memo or Tag is required.
- The exchange accepts deposits at KuPool’s payout amount.
- The exchange has not suspended LTC deposits.
Exchange availability and regulations vary by region. Evaluate the deposit, custody, and account risks before using an exchange address.
Option 3: Non-Custodial Wallet
You may also use a non-custodial wallet that supports the Litecoin mainnet.
When using a non-custodial wallet:
- Download it only from its official website or a trusted app store.
- Confirm that it supports the Litecoin mainnet.
- Back up the recovery phrase immediately.
- Do not take screenshots of the recovery phrase.
- Do not store the recovery phrase online.
- Never share your recovery phrase, private key, or wallet password.
- Test a new address with a small transaction before regular use.
4.2 Add Payout Addresses to KuPool
After obtaining your wallet addresses:
- Log in to KuPool.
- Go to Mining > Payment Settings.
- Select the required subaccount.
- Click Payment Settings.
- Select coin and click Change Address.
- Enter the payout address.
- Complete address verification.
- Add a note if needed.
- Click Next.
- Confirm that payouts are enabled.
Adding or changing an address may trigger a security lock. Mining rewards will continue to accrue during this period, but payouts may be temporarily suspended.
Refer to the status shown on the KuPool Payment Settings page for the applicable lock period.
4.3 Merged Mining Address Requirements
Merged mining rewards begin accruing only after the corresponding payout address has been successfully added and activated.
If you do not add or activate an address for a merged mining coin, the corresponding rewards will be considered forfeited. Rewards generated before the address becomes active will not accrue and will not be reissued.
Before starting LTC mining:
- Add an LTC payout address.
- Add a DOGE payout address.
- Add addresses for all other supported merged mining coins.
- Confirm that payouts are enabled for each coin.
- Verify the network and format of every address.
The supported merged mining coins and their payout rules may change. Refer to your KuPool account and the latest KuPool announcements.
4.4 Address Security
When adding or changing a payout address:
- KuPool only requires your public payout address.
- KuPool will never ask for your private key or recovery phrase.
- Never send private keys, recovery phrases, passwords, or verification codes through messaging apps.
- Do not enter an address under the wrong coin.
- Do not use wrapped-token addresses from another network.
- Check at least the first and last six characters after pasting an address.
- Confirm that you are visiting the official KuPool website.
- Monitor deposit availability when using an exchange address.
5. Payout Address Security Lock
Adding or changing a payout address may trigger a 48-hour security lock. The actual status displayed in your KuPool account takes precedence.
Rewards will continue to accrue during the lock period, but payouts will be suspended.
After the lock expires, eligible rewards will be paid on the next payout date once the payout threshold and other requirements have been met.
6. Find the Miner’s IP Address
6.1 Use the Manufacturer’s IP Tool
After powering on the miner and connecting it to the network, locate its local IP address.
- Connect the miner and your computer to the same router or network switch.
- Download the official IP discovery tool provided by the miner manufacturer.
- Open the tool.
- Press the IP Report, IP, or similar button on the miner.
- Locate the miner’s IP address in the tool.
- Record the IP address.
Common tool names include:
- IP Reporter
- IP Finder
- Miner Tool
- Batch Management Tool
Only download miner management tools from the manufacturer’s official website.
7. Log In to the Miner Dashboard
Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same local network.
Enter the miner’s IP address in the address bar, then log in with the miner’s administrator username and password.
Default login credentials may be listed in:
- The miner label
- The product manual
- The manufacturer’s documentation
- Equipment delivery records
Change the default password after your first login whenever possible.
8. Configure the KuPool LTC Pool
8.1 KuPool LTC Stratum URLs
Use the KuPool server closest to your miner whenever possible.
Asia server
stratum+tcp://ltc-cn.kupool.com:8888
Global server
stratum+tcp://ltc.kupool.com:8888
Pool servers and ports may be updated. Check the KuPool website before configuring your miner.
8.2 Enter the Pool Settings
In the miner dashboard, open one of the following pages:
- Miner Configuration
- Pool Settings
- Mining Pools
- Pool Configuration
Most ASIC miners support up to three pool entries.
Pool 1

8.3 Worker Format
The standard worker format is:
subaccount.worker_name
For example, if your KuPool subaccount is:
ltc-hk01
And your worker name is:
L9-001
Enter:
ltc-hk01.L9-001
Use a unique worker name for each miner. This makes it easier to monitor individual machines and identify faults.
The Password field can normally be set to:

Unless otherwise specified, the password does not affect mining or account security.
8.4 Save the Configuration
After entering the pool settings:
- Check the pool domain.
- Check the port.
- Check the subaccount name.
- Check the worker name.
- Click Save & Apply.
- Wait for the miner to restart or reconnect.
- Open the miner status page and check the pool connection.
The worker will usually appear in the KuPool dashboard within several minutes after the miner connects and submits valid shares.
9. Check Mining Status
9.1 Check the Miner Dashboard
After the miner starts, confirm that:
- All hashboards are detected.
- The chip count is normal.
- The real-time hashrate is within the expected range.
- Fan speeds are normal.
- Chip temperatures are within the normal range.
- Intake and exhaust temperatures are reasonable.
- The configured pool shows an active connection.
- Accepted shares are increasing.
9.2 Check the KuPool Dashboard
Log in to KuPool and:
- Open the Mining page.
- Switch to the correct LTC subaccount.
- Open Worker Management.
- Confirm that the worker is online.
- Check the real-time hashrate.
- Check the average hashrate.
- Check the rejected share rate.
- Review LTC mining rewards.
- Review merged mining rewards.
KuPool can display effective hashrate only after the miner has submitted enough valid shares. A newly connected miner may take several minutes to appear.
10. Monitor Hashrate and Shares
10.1 Real-Time and Average Hashrate
Real-time hashrate can fluctuate over short periods. Use the average hashrate over a longer period when evaluating miner performance.
Compare the pool-side average hashrate with:
- The miner’s rated hashrate
- The local miner dashboard
- Historical performance
- Other miners of the same model
Small differences between the local and pool-side hashrate are normal because pool hashrate is calculated from submitted shares.
10.2 Rejected Shares
A small number of rejected shares may occur because of normal network latency.
A consistently high rejected share rate may indicate:
- High latency
- Packet loss
- An unstable network connection
- Incorrect miner time
- Unstable firmware
- Excessive overclocking
- Frequent pool switching
Select the nearest KuPool server and use a stable wired connection to reduce rejected shares.
11. Mining Rewards
11.1 Reward Components
LTC mining rewards on KuPool may include:
- LTC mining rewards
- DOGE merged mining rewards
- Rewards from other supported merged mining coins
The available coins and reward rules are subject to change.
11.2 Factors Affecting Mining Rewards
Actual rewards depend on:
- Effective hashrate
- Litecoin network hashrate
- Network difficulty
- Block rewards
- Merged mining rewards
- Payout scheme
- Pool fee
- Rejected share rate
- Miner uptime
- Market prices
Mining calculator results are estimates. Actual rewards may differ because network difficulty, hashrate, coin prices, pool luck, and miner performance can change.
12. Troubleshooting
12.1 Miner Cannot Connect to KuPool
Check:
- The pool URL
- The port
- The Ethernet connection
- DNS resolution
- Firewall settings
- The subaccount name
- The worker format
- The miner’s system time
- KuPool server availability
Try another KuPool server if the primary server is unavailable.
12.2 Worker Does Not Appear in KuPool
Check:
- Whether the miner shows an active pool connection
- Whether accepted shares are increasing
- Whether the worker format is correct
- Whether you selected the correct subaccount
- Whether the miner has only recently connected
- Whether the network is stable
Allow the miner to run for several minutes before checking again.
12.3 Hashrate Is Below the Expected Range
Check for:
- Missing or undetected hashboards
- Failed chips
- Low-power mode
- Thermal throttling
- Insufficient power supply output
- Firmware errors
- Fan failures
- Frequent restarts
- Unstable overclocking settings
Compare the short-term and long-term average hashrate before determining whether the miner is underperforming.
12.4 Rejected Share Rate Is Too High
Check:
- Network latency
- Packet loss
- The selected KuPool server
- The miner’s system time
- Firmware stability
- Overclocking settings
- The pool port
- Frequent switching between pools
Using a geographically closer server usually reduces latency and rejected shares.
12.5 LTC Rewards Are Shown but Merged Mining Rewards Are Missing
Check:
- Whether the corresponding payout address has been added
- Whether the address is active
- Whether payouts are enabled
- Whether the address is under a security lock
- Whether KuPool currently supports the merged mining coin
- Whether you are viewing the correct reward page
- Whether the payout threshold has been reached
Merged mining rewards may not accrue if the corresponding payout address has not been added and activated. Forfeited rewards will not be reissued.
12.6 Miner Restarts Frequently
Check:
- Power load
- Input voltage
- Chip temperatures
- Fans
- Firmware
- Hashboards
- Ethernet cables
- Network stability
- Overclocking settings
- Miner logs
Restore the miner to its default frequency if the issue started after overclocking.
